us and our knowledge, against them.

There are times where we feel like it’s okay, like it’s normal. It is not.

Before we can get to act against cyberbullying and its friends, we have to know what it exactly is, how it works, and how it affects people. Thanks to Stop Bullying’s article, I have learned an awful lot myself. https://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/what-is-it/index.html

To break it down, cyberbullying is bullying, oppression, provoking, libeling, of someone in digital platforms. This most commonly occurs on or through:

  • Social media like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter
  • Text messaging
  • Instant messaging
  • E-mail

Cyberbullying is something that affects a certain person in all sorts of ways. Because of how developed and broad the usage of internet can be, the ability of using it against the morally good is also, unfortunately, very much prevalent. From false rumors down to public humiliation, cyberbullying has “unique concerns.”

Cyberbullying is persistent. It is difficult for one to hide and protect oneself from the horrors of cyberbullying, since the online world is always up, 24/7, it does not just stop when you tell it to.

Cyberbullying is permanent. When something happens on the internet, it stays there forever. No matter how hard you try to delete or get rid of it. It can impact not just the present life, but most especially the future.

Cyberbullying is hard to notice. Cyberbullying is something not everyone can understand right away. The online world is a very mysteriously wide place, your teachers & parents can’t know everything around it immediately.

Bullying alone is enough to damage someone, possibly forever. The thought of being able to do it in a place as powerful as the internet is definitely a child’s, or anyone’s, nightmare. We know what it is. We know the rules against it. It is us and our knowledge, against them.
