us and our defenses, against them.

It isn’t all the time that someone’s there for you. There are instances where you just have to fend for yourself and pick yourself up. It mat be hard, but this article I read might help. https://onlinesense.org/how-to-protect-yourself-from-cyberbullies/

It’s difficult to be an individual and being judged for it. Sleazy comments and actions are always thrown at you. More often than not, it’s because these bullies just seek attention. It’s sometimes best to ignore the bully.

To defend yourself from bullying, you don’t need to react to what the bully is saying or doing. It may be easy to be cyberbullied on the internet, but it’s even easier to prove that you are being cyberbullied. Record and save evidence.

Just like regular bullying, reaching out to someone is also one of the ways to defend yourself from bullies. It may be scary, but your parents, teachers, and guardians are always there for you.

us and our knowledge, against them.

There are times where we feel like it’s okay, like it’s normal. It is not.

Before we can get to act against cyberbullying and its friends, we have to know what it exactly is, how it works, and how it affects people. Thanks to Stop Bullying’s article, I have learned an awful lot myself. https://www.stopbullying.gov/cyberbullying/what-is-it/index.html

To break it down, cyberbullying is bullying, oppression, provoking, libeling, of someone in digital platforms. This most commonly occurs on or through:

  • Social media like Facebook, Instagram or Twitter
  • Text messaging
  • Instant messaging
  • E-mail

Cyberbullying is something that affects a certain person in all sorts of ways. Because of how developed and broad the usage of internet can be, the ability of using it against the morally good is also, unfortunately, very much prevalent. From false rumors down to public humiliation, cyberbullying has “unique concerns.”

Cyberbullying is persistent. It is difficult for one to hide and protect oneself from the horrors of cyberbullying, since the online world is always up, 24/7, it does not just stop when you tell it to.

Cyberbullying is permanent. When something happens on the internet, it stays there forever. No matter how hard you try to delete or get rid of it. It can impact not just the present life, but most especially the future.

Cyberbullying is hard to notice. Cyberbullying is something not everyone can understand right away. The online world is a very mysteriously wide place, your teachers & parents can’t know everything around it immediately.

Bullying alone is enough to damage someone, possibly forever. The thought of being able to do it in a place as powerful as the internet is definitely a child’s, or anyone’s, nightmare. We know what it is. We know the rules against it. It is us and our knowledge, against them.

us and the acts, against them.

As this article by Cyndy P. Dela Cruz states, “The pen is mightier than the sword.https://www.inhousecommunity.com/article/cyber-bullying-philippines/

Dela Cruz, in this article, emphasizes the different acts and laws against the issue of cyberbullying. It is important to be aware of these as they serve as our, and your children’s, shields against the traumas of oppression online. In short summary, here are the acts enlisted by Dela Cruz in her article.

The Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 (RA 10627)  applies and covers student-to-student acts of oppression. This includes any form of bullying, including those that occur on the Internet. If it is anything a student says that is harmful, threatening, socially and generally discriminating to another student, it is against this law.

The Revised Penal Code and the Cybercrime Prevention Act states that anyone who is publicly connected to an act of slander towards a person of natural or juridical nature is against this law. The act of doing this online results to even graver consequences. However, only the author or the original writer of the post is held accountable. Likers are sharers are not held liable.

The Civil Code on Damages states that those affected by any form of cyberbullying may seek protection and help from the provisions of the Civil Code on Damages.

Bear in mind all these laws created to protect ourselves and others as well. We are all equally human, so is our rights, let us not forget that. Sometimes, people get confused with the power of anonymity online and those same people tend to abuse it, and others with it as well. It is us and the acts, against them.
